what is portrait photography?
Portrait photography is photography when you take a picture of a person. The 4 main types of portrait photography are environmental which is photography in a certain setting that shows what they are doing. Candid photography which captures a person doing everyday activities. Formal photography is when you just forces on just the person. Self-portrait photography is when you take a portrait of yourself.

FAVORITE shots
This is my favourite photo because it shows you the expression of the girl and how hard she is working and you can see that she doesn't what to work. I think that this image is showing how slavery can affect lives of young and old people. This photo uses a large depth of field this allows the whole image to be in focus. The photographer has placed the girl in the centre which makes the viewer focus on the girl. The girl is wearing bright colours which is a contrast with the dull green poppies that they are harvesting. This image uses the rule of 3 by using the poppies they are farming, the tree and the mountains. Poppies are used to make her heroine which is shocking to see how young people are used in the drug trade.
I like this image because it shows what happens when you smoke cigarettes, to me it is showing the affects of smoking on the outside of the body using the black soot to make the person dirty. This is what happens to the lungs on the inside of the body they become covered in black tar. This image uses a small depth of filed this is to focus on the person and not on the background this is why it is out of focus. The white smoke contrast whit the black skin stands out in the image. This man could be a coal miner this is why he is wearing a uniform and a helmet, this would explain why the background is so dark and not in focus. The miner of the photo is angry this is because he has to work in hard condition and he wants a better job.

FAVORITE PHOTO
I like this photo because it shows the emotion of the person, she is clearly screaming which could indicate that she could be in pain or is very exited. The image is black and white which make the contrast of the strong black mark on her face stand out. I think this image has been done in a studio this is because the lighting of the image is very controlled. The only thing that is really white is the teeth this make them stand out more then the rest of the image.
DIFFERENT EXPRESSION shoot 1
best photoThis is my best photo because it shows he is relax this is perfect because it looks like he is going to sleep this is good because this is want I wanted to capture. For this image I use a large depth of field this to allow the background to be seen.

worst photoThis is my worst photo because it does not show any expression. This image is bad because he is wearing his camera.

self time photo shoot 2
best photoThis is my best photo because it shows the face clearly in the shot and the background is not in focus. This makes the effect of me being confident. The depth of field is small this is because the background is not in focus.

worst photoIn this picture you can not see the face clearly and the face is not central

how to make a good PORTRAIT
To make a good portrait you need to know and think about exposure, composition and posing. when you are using composition you could make the person be in the centre or on the right looking into the space. When you look directly at the camera you can see more emotion in the face than if it were not in the centre. if you use a 1+ exposure you could see the features more brightly but 1- exposure you will darken the features on the face. When you tell your model to pose you can tell them to stand in different ways like putting a leg in front of them so they look much stronger, or you could make them do something with there hands like make them lean on it. If you take a photo of a person from a bird's eye view they will look much nicer but you will have to tell them how to pose to look up at the camera. You could take the picture in a worm's eye view.
shoot 1
In this shoot I will take a picture of a person who is standing outside looking into space. He will be doing different expression.
best photoI like this piece because he is not looking directly at the camera so it makes the image better. I think the meaning of this piece is how confuses a person can be in their thoughts because I can see the confused expression on the person's face. This is an effective image because the model is not in the centre of the image this makes it more effective. I have used a high depth of field, I have got a perfect exposure and my focus point is on the model face. I like the composition of the piece because I have used the rule of thirds.

worst photoI don't like this photo because his eyes are closed.

shoot 2
In this shoot I will take a picture of a person next to a tree then I will make it black and white.
final PIECE
I like the black and white contrast in the photo. This photo shows the expression of the person as he is showing he is lonely. the black and white contrast make it look like he has nowhere else to go. The tree has a rough effect whilst the face has a smooth effect, this makes the face stand out more next to the tree.
shoot 3
I will make the person feel happy this will happen in the library whilst he is reading book. I will use a small depth of field so that only the face will be in focus.
best photoI like this image this is because it shows it personalty this is shown when he is smiling this shown that he is a very happy. The composition of the image is good this is good because he is not starring at the camera this makes it look more natural.

worst PHOTOThis is a bad picture this is because it is overexposed.

FINAL shots
In this unit I have developed my skills in using filters and editing. For these shoots I have explained a story and now I have learnt a lot about what filters work best. In some of the photo you can see the personality of the person this help you develop a better understanding for the photo.
